Result
Listening 30/40 → band 7.0. Reading (Academic) 27/40 → band 6.5. If you also have Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.5: (7.0 + 6.5 + 6.0 + 6.5) / 4 = 6.5 overall band (rounds to 6.5). Note: the General Training Reading table needs more correct answers for the same band.

- Are these exact official cutoffs?
- No. IELTS publishes average mark examples and notes that exact cutoffs can vary slightly by test version. Use this as a guide, not an official result.
- How is the overall band calculated?
- The four section scores (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) are added, divided by four and rounded to the nearest half band. We explain all the rules in our IELTS band scores guide.
- Do Academic and General Training differ?
- Listening uses the same scoring scale for both. In Reading, General Training usually needs more correct answers for the same band.
- Does it work for Writing and Speaking?
- Writing and Speaking are scored by an examiner against criteria, not by question count. In the calculator you can enter their band and compute your overall score.
